My clients…
I’m passionate about helping couples stuck in a never-ending cycle of anger, helplessness, and hopelessness in their relationship. I’ll help you develop new skills for achieving lasting, positive change so that you can once again experience meaning and safety with your partner.
I also work with individuals doing short-term, time-delimited therapy for depression and anxiety. I help them recognize the thinking patterns that might create or contribute to their suffering. This type of therapy is well-suited to folks who would like support from a professional psychotherapist but are not yet ready for an in-depth process.
My style and approach…
If you appreciate an active, conversational, down-to-earth style, we’ll be a great fit!
I like to work with clear objectives, either in short-term or long-term therapy, for those interested in changing personality patterns that are either deeply rooted or have created difficulties over a long time or in various life scenarios.
My therapeutic approach is informed by Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) principles. These modalities are particularly effective if you have relationship difficulties stemming from attachment trauma or family-of-origin experiences.
Some of my background…
I’ve been a practicing therapist for over 20 years. I’m licensed in Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, DC, and can provide online counseling in Florida.
In addition to working with clients in private practice, I’ve worked in hospital and community mental health in Colombia and the US.
I’ve also taught at the university level and written research articles for peer-reviewed journals in Latin America.
